HOT SPRINGS

Hot Springs, Arkansas, is located in the Ouachita Mountains amidst the natural hot springs for which it is named. At its center is Hot Springs National Park, the oldest federal reserve in the United States. For centuries its waters have been popularly believed to possess medicinal properties. In the mid nineteenth century the city developed into a successful spa town. The city has been home to Major League Baseball spring training, horse racing, illegal gambling, speakeasies and gangsters such as Al Capone. Today, Hot Springs' history is proudly on display in

• Downtown Hot Springs' Central Avenue Historic District, and
• Dozens of historic Depression era Art Deco style hotels.

Hot Springs is also a destination for those interested in the arts, annually featuring the Hot Springs Music Festival, Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, and the Valley of the Vapors Independent Music Festival among many others.
